Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye’s City of Literature, Showcased at the Frankfurt Book Fair

Kahramanmaraş, holding the title of Türkiye’s first and only UNESCO City of Literature within the Creative Cities Network, continues to strengthen its international presence and cultural partnerships. Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality is actively promoting its cultural publications, periodicals, and the works of its prominent authors and poets on the global stage.

From October 7 to 11, 2026, the municipality is hosting international visitors and publishing professionals at its dedicated stand in Hall 3.1 at the prestigious Frankfurt Book Fair.

Representing the city’s deep-rooted literary heritage, its celebrated “Seven Beautiful Men” (Yedi Güzel Adam) tradition, and its rich local culture, the delegation aims to establish long-term bridges with the global publishing community under the UNESCO City of Literature banner.

The promotional activities at the fair focus on showcasing the publications of the Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality alongside works by local authors, poets, and cultural researchers. The delegation is actively engaging in copyright discussions, translation opportunities, and publishing collaborations with international publishers, authors, and literary agencies, while also highlighting Kahramanmaraş’s traditional handicrafts and distinctive gastronomy alongside its literary legacy.

As the world’s largest and most influential book trade event, the Frankfurt Book Fair gathers thousands of publishers, authors, and industry leaders in Germany each year. Serving as the global hub for international rights trading and literary networking, the fair shapes the trajectory of world literature through hundreds of panel discussions, author signings, and cultural exchanges. By taking an active role in this premier global gathering, the Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality reinforces the city’s international vision and presents its centuries-old cultural wealth to an international audience.
